In my basket

Almost every week for the past year I’ve been wanting to participate in Ginny’s Yarn Along. I share her love of knitting and reading and I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate both.

I just finished knitting the Rubble for Layla in pink . An easy quick knit once I found time to sit and actually knit it. I have to block it and sew the seams and with my tendency to procrastinate on this kind of tasks it might take a while. In the meantime I cast on the Gap-tastic cowl. I had seen a similar cowl in a store but I didn’t like the visible seam so I made one for myself. My very first knitted item made by me for me selfish no ;o)

I picked up The Tiger’s Wife twice at the bookstore, I wasn’t sure if I would like it or not. I should have left it! I kept reading chapter after chapter thinking I would get why she got such raving reviews. I finished the book but I still don’t get it. The quality of the writing was evident but the story was hashed and I couldn’t understand where it was going. Obreht has skills, her descriptions, her world… It’s just that I couldn’t stitch the chapters together, the story lacked a thread.

I now started Getting things done by David Allen.Taking care of the children and managing a house was already a full time job but now with work added on top of that I felt the need to improve my organizational skills. For the past months or so I have been fighting the tyranny of the urgent. I lay at night in bed making endless lists and forgetting even more things. From reading 3 chapters  so far I feel this book will give me tools to organize my work/life better.

How about you?

ella - That colour is such Happiness I just needed right now on this dark grey day ;)

Tracey - Very pretty yarn Imene! I so get what you mean about those pesky little things like blocking ! :)

I saw the same cowl pattern and want to cast one on too, but I promised myself that I would finish all my projects first.

S/V Mari Hal-O-Jen - That Gap-tastic Cowl will be amazing!I loved it since I first saw it but think it is just a tad *much* for Key West! lol!

del - Hmmm, I hate when a book seems to have so much potential but then falls flat. I, too, have been struggling with organization and procrastination. So far this year, I’ve been doing good — then again, it’s only the 11th day of the year. :-)
