A story of survival, of loneliness and resilience. At at five Kya is abandoned by her mother and siblings. She understands why they left - because of her father, because of his meanness, his abuse, his drinking. What she doesn’t understand is why they left her behind.
She learns to survive and then thrive on the edges of her community. Kya's journey is a journey to forgiveness and to letting herself be loved despite her fear of pain.
I listened to this book on Audible and I did like it but the ending was anticlimactic. I don’t want to post any spoilers but considering the book I felt the ending was not as thought of as the rest.
